Frequently Asked Questions

What businesses and services will be available within WellTide Health?

WellTide Health is currently leasing space. The Municipality of the District of Lunenburg is an anchor tenant within WellTide Health, designing a Community Hub featuring flexible spaces to create and grow, a welcoming café, and a community event space. Partners for Care will also be a tenant and is currently designing a Collaboration Hub that aims to create an environment where person-centred navigation helps community members feel informed, cared for, and connected to information that enables them to make informed decisions about their health and wellness journey.

Will Primary Health Care be included within WellTide Health?

WellTide Health is actively engaging with health and wellness providers and businesses that have been identified as a gap or opportunity based on the community needs assessment. Primary health care was recognized as a need, and multiple opportunities are currently being explored, including the integration of Virtual Care programming to enhance community access to care through the Partners for Care Collaboration Hub.

Will Nova Scotia Health be operating within WellTide Health?

WellTide Health is actively engaging with health and wellness providers, businesses, community organizations and Nova Scotia Health to explore opportunities that have been identified as a gap or opportunity based on the community needs assessment. It is our hope that all sectors, including public, business, and community, will deliver services through WellTide Health or the PFC Collaboration Hub, whether that is by co-locating programs and services or connecting community members to information about programs and services available outside of WellTide Health, within the broader community and healthcare ecosystem.

Can Partners for Care or WellTide Health connect me with a doctor or book appointments?

Partners for Care does not deliver clinical care directly; instead, it creates an enabling environment where independent health and wellness providers can collaborate. If you do not have a family doctor, the first step is to register on the Need a Family Practice Registry. You can learn more here: Need a Family Practice Registry - Need a Family Practice. If you are unsure if you are on the list, please call 811.

What makes WellTide Health innovative or unique?

With Partners for Care leading the initiative, we are building partnerships at the intersection of public, business, and community sectors, with a deep commitment to understanding the community's needs through a health equity and social determinants of health lens.  This work led us to a central principle: person-centered navigation. Meeting people where they are, which is often a state of uncertainty about where to go for support while navigating barriers such as transportation, housing, and income insecurity. Our goal is to connect individuals with accessible, community-centred health and wellness supports to help them feel informed and connected to their health and wellness journey.

What makes the WellTide Health facility different from any other office building?

Partners for Care is very carefully selecting like-minded, community-centric companies that want to work together for the betterment of the patient since there is no formal collaboration feature for all tenants.

What are the overall goals of the Partners for Care (PFC) Collaboration Hub?

The PFC Hub goals are focused on collaboration and community engagement through PFC hub tenants and programming. The strength of the PFC Hub lies in the environment and infrastructure PFC provides to support independent service providers. Through co-location, PFC creates a setting where diverse services (primary care, mental health, specialty care, holistic services, etc.) operate under one roof, making cross-referrals and coordinated care plans more feasible.

What is Partners for Care’s role in the operation of the PFC Collaboration Hub in WellTide Health?

Partners for Care is the primary operator of the space within the PFC Collaboration Hub, overseeing shared infrastructure, operational supports, navigation services, and the delivery of community-facing programming. Healthcare providers will deliver care through the PFC Hub space.

How is the PFC Collaboration Hub funded?

The PFC Collaboration Hub funding strategy draws from multiple sources:

Lease Income: The primary revenue stream is expected to be rental income from tenant leases. Each service provider leasing space in WellTide Health or the PFC Hub (whether a private clinic or other organization, or business) will pay rent as per their lease agreements. In subsequent years, generating a steady stream of revenue to cover facility costs.

Shared Services Fees: In the PFC Collaboration Hub, tenants pay a service fee in addition to base rent if they opt into certain shared services. These fees would help offset the cost of hub-employed staff who support tenant operations. The structure will be clearly outlined based on a actual use cost-recovery model.

Grants and Public Funding: As a community health initiative, Partners for Care will seek grants from the government, foundations, and philanthropists. Additionally, PFC, as a charity, can fundraise or allocate resources to support PFC Hub programming, especially before lease revenue is fully realized.

Program Revenue and Events: Some community programs or events might generate modest revenue. These revenues are not primary but can help cover the costs of running those programs or be reinvested into access funds that support community members with accessing private services equitably.

Donations and Fundraising: As a registered charity, Partners for Care can accept donations. Community fundraising campaigns might be launched to raise extra funds for program enhancements or access fund expansion.
